The Intellectual Property Section presents the Intellectual Property Symposium 2026, featuring Crown® LLP Partner Nicole A. Katsin as a speaker on “Candor in the Age of AI: Ethics for IP Practitioners.” On October 22^nd, this panel will examine the professional responsibility issues surrounding the use of generative AI in patent and trademark practice, including attorneys’ duties related to competence, candor, confidentiality, billing, supervision and the independent verification of AI-generated work.

Nicole will focus on the importance of communicating with clients about the use of AI in their legal matters. While some clients actively encourage the use of AI tools, others strongly oppose it, making clear disclosure and an understanding of each client’s expectations essential.
